Press Release n.122
Brazil’s election to the presidency of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (2023-2024)
On July 15th, Brazil received the consent of the participating governments of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) to chair the Group for 2023-2024.
The NSG is an export control regime set up to promote the coordination of national policies of its 48 participating governments in controlling the transfer of sensitive goods and technologies in the nuclear area, with the aim of ensuring that they are used for exclusively peaceful purposes.
Brazil has been a member of the Group since 1996. Its election by its NSG peers evidences the country's credentials in controlling exports of sensitive and dual-use goods in the nuclear area.
At the end of the Brazilian presidency, in 2024, the 33rd Plenary Meeting of the NSG will be held in Brazil.
