Anvisa determines the end of mandatory use of mask in airports and aircraft
Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa) determined, on August 17, the end of the mandatory use of face masks in Brazilian airplanes and airports. The measure was published in an extra edition of the Diário Oficial da União (DOU) (available only in Portuguese) and is already in force.
According to the Agency, the use of masks is still recommended, especially for people with flu symptoms and for the more vulnerable public, such as immunocompromised, pregnant women and the elderly. Other sanitary protocols are still mandatory in the country's aircraft and airports. See what they are:
- Availability of alcohol gel;
- Cleaning and disinfection procedures;
- Air conditioning systems;
- Landing in rows;
- Audible warnings with adaptations, recommending the use of masks, especially by vulnerable people.
Recommendations for travelers who are abroad
For Brazilians who are abroad, the orientation is to follow the recommendations of the local health authorities.
If the country where the traveler is staying has border restriction measures decreed, the traveler should contact the local consular service. See more information about guidelines for passengers on international flights.
