Anac receives contributions for public consultation on aeronautical product and article certification

The Anac has announced a public consultation related to Safety Management Systems (SMS) for organizations responsible for the Type Design and the Manufacturing of aeronautical product. The SMS is a framework for aviation organizations to proactively manage safety risks, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and continuous monitoring. Contributions may be submitted until July 14th.

The Public Consultation No. 08/2025 presents a proposal for new requirements within the context of product and production certification processes, established through RBAC No. 21, for aeronautical products and articles.

This initiative seeks to integrate safety oversight practices with safety management, in alignment with the provisions of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and harmonized with foreign civil aviation authorities such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

The new rule will be applicable to organizations under the Agency jurisdiction as a State of Design or Manufacture. It is worth noting that the proposal also takes into account lessons learned by Anac in other regulated domains that already have an implemented Safety Management System (SMS).
