ANAC hosts international working group in Rio de Janeiro

Representatives from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Working Group on Guidance Material (WGGM), met from February 6 to 10 at the Gran Mercure Copacabana Hotel, in Rio de Janeiro. The event was attended by about 30 professionals working in Civil Aviation Security (AVSEC) from various countries, as well as industry representatives.

The meeting aimed to continue the activities established under the ICAO Secretariat, among which we highlight the preparation of guides to requirements and techniques related to aviation security.

The guides are aimed at ICAO’ signatory states and cover the following topics: the use of dogs for inspection of passengers, luggage and cargo, and the production of guidelines in case of demonstrations at airports that may disrupt airport operations. 

Other items on the agenda were updating the chapter on checked baggage security in DOC 8973 (Aviation Security Manual), more modern ways to disseminate guidance materials, validation of a new flow for the production of materials, and the evaluation of the results of the survey conducted with ICAO states on regulatory processes around AVSEC.
